I got a call from a minister who works with military veterans and their families about getting a print of this picture for a fund raising auction. She offered to buy a copy, but of course I gladly donated a print. I'm happy to offer my support for our military veterans. I feel very fortunate that I didn't have to serve in the military or an armed conflict, and I am grateful for the service of others who have.
One of the interesting things about this picture now is, how they found it and me: It's been several, several years since I've had this picture out in public with my name attached to it, but somehow it got cataloged with google images. While it's fortunate in this case, it's kind of creepy too that the google database works as well as it does - in that I/we don't have control over our work, or what's associated with us. Not sure how I really feel about it.... other than being temporarily pleased to be able to lend a tiny bit of support to a good cause.

We are definitely in murky waters these days with privacy, rights protection... we seem to be only too glad to give up our rights in order to gain convenience, fame... Are we going to pay for it later?
Forgot to say; nice shot. And nice of you to donate it to them. Hope they use it well. (Too many great images get destroyed with bad design.)
For me, the creepiest of all creepy is Facebook.
Bruce,
Thank you again for your donation of your WWI soldier print. We sent it out to a local framer and have just gotten it back, it looks great.
In this case I think, I would attribute my finding your print that day to what I call God's timing. Our ministry is blessed as are those we serve, to be provided with such a wonderful donation. This is definitly the one piece I know that I would bid on-but I suspect that it will go for much more than I can afford! You are truly an artist. FYI-I only happened upon this site because I was looking for a copy of your print to put on our website, and possibly in our catelogue.
Blessings,
Leslie
